new stuff

So I just made these today. They are dry erase boards. I think I like the machine gun one the best.

sweet meeeeeeeeeaaaaaats!

I haven't been able to blog in a while because of being just insane-o busy at work so I thought I would get my holiday blogging out of the way. First Liz and I have been on the hunt for the Nintendo Wii for about four weeks now. We have been everywhere! We finally decided that the best way to get one is to camp out at the store until the ups man arrives and be the first in line. Well it finally happened and we got one. We where the second people in line! There were a total of three Wiis that arrived that day and about 10 people in line. I couldn't help but think about how I could have turned around and sold it for $100 more to the guy behind me but I am not that type of guy. Anyhoo to make a long story short Liz wrapped it up all nice and neat and put it under the tree. A couple of days went by and I can tell that Liz's excitement to play the Wii was escalating. She started talking about how cool its going to be to play "Bowling!","Tennis!" and "Boxing!" oh my. Soooooooooo we opened it. I told her if I get to open that she has to open one of her gifts. and this is what I got her..........Stuffed meats. I mean these are just about the coolest thing. I like the ham bone the best. Liz doesn't look that pleased but I think she was just side tracked about the Wii. Anyway check out the site and buy some stuff.

big plastic jewelry

well I braved the mall with liz the other day. I was actually surprised to see that there wasn't that many people there. I mean being the Christmas season and all I was surprised. I was also surprised to see that big plastic jewelry is in this year. I guess that is good news for me. Here are a couple shots of pieces I particularly liked.

The idea generator.

I know people have probably seen this thing but I had this conversation with Gabriel Craig about making pieces from pieces from pieces. I think this is just about the same: an idea from an idea from an idea. Kind of fun....check it out.

Tis the Season

So I thought I would make something festive this year. I am not into holiday type stuff(except the food, I need my pie and eggnog dude... no really its not Christmas without it) So I made these wreaths.....made out of machine guns...with a bow. If you are local you can buy them at the Quirk Gallery if not of course I have them for sale on my Etsy page

No, I'm It

Corey Ackelmire tagged me. So now I have to post something to my blog which I haven't done in a while. So here goes

Five Random Facts about Arthur

For the last five years my morning routine has been pretty close to the same:
wake up
find my glasses
turn on the coffee machine
let the dog outside
take a shower
make a cup of coffee using one tablespoon of cream and two tbsp of sugar
drink coffee
take a poo
brush my teeth
get dressed
let the dog back inside
go to work
If this routine is interrupted in any way (out of cream, out of toothpaste, dog
doesn't want to go out etc etc) I have a bad day.
I am such a robot.

I secretly want to be a pastry chef Nazi where I ONLY make MY favorite things.
The pastries are so good I get to say "NO PASTRY FOR YOU!"

When I am sleeping I sometimes sleep with my legs up in the air,it really freaks people out almost like a corpse sitting up.

I have a phobia of smelling bad. Its not like a wash my hands all the time type of thing but I do use an extra amount of deodorant, foot powder and spritz.

I am a Foodie. This is kind of funny because I am a very picky eater. I did however spend an obscene amount of money on kitchen equipment for my house. 15,000 BTU Restaurant grade oven, Industrial grade stainless hood and counter tops, butcher blocks and 24" x 36" cutting boards, Sheet pans, Kitchen Aide mixer, large set of global knives etc etc etc. Go figure. I like to eat....

I am supposed to link to five other people that I know but most of them have already been hit. so..... I am not sure how to deal with that.
Maybe I can come up with some more people.

I will be reporting all of the tasty step by step plays as I do every year (check my flickr photostream) hmmmm TUR-DUCK-IN!!! BABY!!

Well I haven't posted anything in a while because I have been really busy trying to get our new CNC router up and running for a training session we had this weekend. I thought I would post some photos from that. I thought it was cool but I can totally see how it could have been really really really boring. I am such a nerd.

old shoe new brooch

old shoe new brooch, originally uploaded by arthur hash.

another shoe another brooch. This one has rocks in it. I am really looking for a used shoe with some gum on the bottom of it, but I guess they are really selective at the thrift store.

New shoe jewelry

Just started these. Not sure if I am ripping anyone off or not. The best part is since I get the shoes from the thrift store there is stuff in the tread like gum and dog poo. They have a huge feeling of time because some of the tread is worn away and some of it is new. It gives a history to the piece. Also making the pieces kind of stink like feet so they work on another level. I have been wearing one all day today and man I keep smelling feet? These are great!!!

Richmond Craft Mafia

Dude if you live in Richmond and you are interested in selling your handmade awesomeness go hereThe Richmond Craft Mafia. They have a lot of good info on what is happening in the tri-state area (shows, craft fairs, business solutions, etc etc etc) check em out. They are having a holidaze sale(see info above). Even if you are not selling you can go buy some righteous x-mas gifts for the fam or your loved ones. Their slogan is "Rubbin' out the mass produced". They also had a booth at the Bizzare market at Chop Suey Books (a local used book store here in town).

Arthur Hash (my work)

I found this slide show maker that uses your flickr photo stream. click here:Slide00 It works pretty well and you can post a slide show straight to your blog.

This is about the best thing I have ever I bought one for Liz. The packaging alone is top notch. It a store called Shopsin They have a bunch of other really nice stuff. We also bought one of their Honest Abe pins.

The Kitchen is HERE!!!

I finally got my custom kitchen cabinets. Man they are great. Especially the little slide out thing for the trash can. I can't believe how big they are. I have enough room to store all of my crap and then some. It was a tough design. We decided to make some that matched some of the ikea furniture that we had. Its all birch veneer, the base cabinet is elevated and all of the hardware is the same.

Cut out jewelry

Cut out jewelry, originally uploaded by arthur hash.

I started using some chip board in my vinyl cutter. Might have to invest in some new blades. I have to do a lot of the cutting by hand. Might be nice as a punch out jewelry piece. Maybe with a poly coating? hmmmm. Flocking? dunno. Maybe I will try some plastic sheeting soon.

sienna gallery

Got picked up by the sienna gallery a while back and they have been posting a lot of my work on their website. Thought this was a great shot with the moss brooch.

They have a lot of GREAT artists that have a lot of GREAT work on the website. I also really like the design of the site. It made me think how my site is way too busy.... Go check it out. -Arthur
