Boris Bally and Jayden Moore

This winter-session we have been very lucky to have Jayden Moore teaching in metals. Jayden has been such a great person to have around.  He is a lot of fun and it is great to have metals nerd out time.  When ever I have visiting metals folks in town I always take them by Boris Bally's studio.  Every time we go I always see something new!!!  This visit was no different.  It is perfect timing before the semester starts.  I am all geared up to teach!  Thanks Boris.

So just some quick highlights: Boris had all of his samples out from his time in Switzerland.  Lots of these were bench tests that he had to make over and over again.  Some of them were epic samples from other artists.

Boris also did a gun buy back thing were people would bring guns to the police department in Pittsburgh and he would weld them so that the could no longer be used. He has done a number of sculptures and of course you have probably seen his trigger necklace (quick shot of the barrel chest piece below)

While Jayden was here we made bacon!!  So three things about making bacon. One, it was so nice to have nitrite free bacon. All those preservatives make it kind of gross. Two, it was kind of a pain in the ass to make. Three, it really wasn't super bacon-y.  It did however make for some epic BLTs.
