JOYA

big ups to the peeps

I just sent off a big old box of work to the Sienna Gallery for SOFA NY.   I have a few more pieces to finish for some wholesale orders from ACC Baltimore and then.... maybe then Liz and I can take our honeymoon.    VACATION PLEASE!

I am trying to shut down my making for a moment and concentrate on some other ventures such as Craftees, moving, helping other metals folks when I can and of course working on the SUNY metals studio and digital lab. I am excited about this summer and the many plans I have for even more improvements that need to be made to the metals studio as well as the arrival of the incoming grads. I am also excited for all of the outgoing grads. I always love seeing their thesis shows. Congrats in advance to all of you.  You have all worked very hard to get to where you are.

It always surprises me seeing the work coming out of this program. I guess I should expect that level of sophistication out of New Paltz by now. I do feel as if I am in the epicenter of something great sometimes.  I am in a lot of ways jealous and wish I could go back to school and have the luxury to make different work or even have an opportunity to be exposed to what they are exposed to.  So many exciting things to do.  So many exciting things to make.  I guess I wouldn't be where I am if I had not traveled the path I did.  What an exciting part of my life that was.  I will never forget the bonds I made with other artists or the pieces I toiled over when I was in the thick of it.  I am also grateful for all of the help I received along the way.  I know some people had to be incredibly patient with me or even tolerate my craziness.  Thank you all.
So many exciting things on the horizon for so many talented people.  There are so many great opportunities for so many great people.  I wish the best of luck to you all.
