So I have was invited to participate in Hudson Fulton: take two. Here is the copy for the show:



Memorabilia from the 1909 Hudson-Fulton celebration was the inspiration for 10 artists whose exhibit of new work opens on May 2 (a Saturday) in the Friends of Historic Kingston Gallery.

“Hudson-Fulton: Take Two” features painting, sculpture, photography, fiber, metal, jewelry and prose, inspired by 1909 memorabilia drawn from Friends of Historic Kingston archives and the John F. Matthews Collection. The items from 1909 are included in the exhibit so that visitors can link the artifacts with the contemporary works

Artist and Friends of Historic Kingston Board Member Ken Gray came up with the idea for the exhibit as the preservation organization’s contribution to the 2009 Hudson-Fulton Quadricentennial Celebration. Gray is also the exhibit curator.


Anyhoo I am only halfway finished with my piece. I silhouetted the outline of the Hudson River with Henry Hudson's ship the "Halfmoon". Another round of sticking on stickers tomorrow. I will try and post some sneak peaks later. If you are in the area come to the Opening this Saturday (May 2nd at the Friends of Historic Kingston Gallery, located on the corner of Wall and Main Streets in Kingston's Stockade National Historic District.)

So I have been wanting to make this piece forever and finally it has made it into the real world. It came out great. I love ponoko!! I can't wait for the piece to go into the gallery and get broken apart. I want to be there when the first piece gets snapped off! I think is might be too grid like. Maybe next time more of a cluster or "mob" of rings?

We will see what happens with this. I have been toying around with the idea of some fold up boxes on ball chain. Snap together type things. Don't know where this is going yet. I think I might be reverting to my love of blocks from when I was a child. My brother and I had a MASSIVE lego collection. I wonder what happened to those? I bet they are still in my parents attic somewhere. Tell me what you think. I might try and have a few of these cut or punched and powder coated/enameled. Might be cool just to see what they look like. Everyone needs a little box around their neck. Right?

So just got my stainless steel blocks from ponoko thought I would post some photos. Amazing how nice they are. I am sooooo excited to use these parts. A little pricey.

Working on some new things I will have to explain this a little later but I thought maybe I would put it out there. Ring sheet with different sizes. As you break off the rings it changes the overall piece. The sizes range from small to large. You might have to break off a couple to get to the size you need. Thought of it as a small wall piece. Probably going to be made of laser cut plexi. -A

hmmm suspect.

So I was going to re-open my Etsy store but there is a problem. This other artist. It seems like when ever I make something they make something almost identical. About a year ago I had talked to the artist and at the time they seemed to think that their work is completely different and it is all just freakishly coincidental. It is just really hard for me to believe. I make something then sometime later this artist makes almost the same thing. Maybe the planets have aligned and it is all a strange coincidence. I dunno. SNAG is coming

REVOLUTION, the 2009 Society of North American Goldsmiths conference, will take place
May 20-23rd in Philadelphia, birthplace of the American Revolution. Revolution can be
defined in many ways: a sudden change; a movement against a current situation; the
actions of individuals or groups of individuals "revolutionaries." On SNAG's 40th anniversary,this conference will provide the critical context to consider the future of our profession,provide us the opportunity to reflect upon our history, and ultimately celebrate the independent thinkers and decisive movements that ensure change, growth and evolution in our discipline.

Philadelphia is not only known for the Declaration of Independence and the first Capitol,but it is also a city of firsts in the Arts; opening the first art school and art museum in America, and the first and oldest Diamond District in the United States. The city continues its revolution in arts education, as Philadelphia contains three major art schools with three historically strong and distinctive metals programs: TheUniversity of the Arts, Tyler School of Art/Temple University, and Moore College of Art & Design.

The conference will take place in the Loews Hotel, a National Historic Landmark which was Howe & Lescaze's 1932 PSFS (Philadelphia Savings Fund Society) building. This building is widely considered the first International Style skyscraper, and is a dramatic setting for our gathering.

From Independence Hall to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia has much to
explore and enjoy, and is the perfect setting for SNAG 2009. We have an exciting program of speakers and exhibitions that investigates and provokes dialogue, surrounding REVOLUTION from both historical and contemporary perspectives. We hope to see you in May 2009.

spring break!!!!

Agelio Batle. I met this guy at ACC back in 2007 when I was a searchlight artist. I love his work!!! It is great!! I thought I would post images of my favorite pieces. You have probably seen some of his work here and there and didn't realize it. He makes these AWESOME graphite sculpture pencil things (hand, gun etc). I am proud to own one of his twig resin neck pieces. Check out the six pack marble container. Also I am totally jealous of his incredible home and studio!!! Anyway go to his website and Check it out.
