vise thing

So a long time ago I bought this miter vise/tube cutter.  I have this strange love hate relationship with this thing.  The biggest problem with it is that I never know if I am using it the right way.  I always use the death grip while I am filing or sawing and half the time I actually cut into my finger.  So I started using it in a vise which is super awkward.  Does anyone have a secret to these things?  Someone should make an attachment for the benchmate to hold these buggers.  ORRRR! maybe a freaking handle?

  1. Arthur, I've had the same problem. One solution I have when cutting tubing is to turn it flat on the bench pin and brace the long side of the tubing into the V. Sawing sideways is awkward, too, so this only works when I've not got much to do. My other thought was to chisel out a slot on the corner of my bench pin, but I've never committed. A Benchmate attachment would be great. I wonder if the ring clamp one would grab enough on the little area on the bottom where you've got your vice.

  2. Bryan, you are totally correct, this ring vise would not be strong enough. I wonder if there is some kind of attachment that could use the benchmate system.

Do remember getting an instruction manual with yours? I can't remember if I got one with mine.

I am going to see if I can figure this out. That bottom part, for sure is some sort of "tang". I just don't know how to grip this thing. hmmmmmm
