Shopbot!!!!
Well I haven't posted anything in a while because I have been really busy trying to get our new CNC router up and running for a training session we had this weekend. I thought I would post some photos from that. I thought it was cool but I can totally see how it could have been really really really boring. I am such a nerd.

old shoe new brooch
another shoe another brooch. This one has rocks in it. I am really looking for a used shoe with some gum on the bottom of it, but I guess they are really selective at the thrift store.

New shoe jewelry

Just started these. Not sure if I am ripping anyone off or not. The best part is since I get the shoes from the thrift store there is stuff in the tread like gum and dog poo. They have a huge feeling of time because some of the tread is worn away and some of it is new. It gives a history to the piece. Also making the pieces kind of stink like feet so they work on another level. I have been wearing one all day today and man I keep smelling feet? These are great!!!

Here is the second costume for halloween. We found out the hard way that the magnets were WAY TOO strong. I think we lost a couple of them in the night traveling from party to party.

DUDE LOOK WHAT I MADE! Ho hum what to do with a vinyl cutter? I know! Make a milk carton helmet out of cardboard, hot glue it together and make stickers to put on it! Now is it going to be the lost child on the side of a milk carton? or the dead milkmen? or just plain milk hmmmmmm who knows.

saw this at one of those seasonal Halloween stores. Can't help but laugh at the white dude they have on the package. Then I thought I might buy it but I already have the glasses and the hat. All I need is some chain and spray paint it gold. WORD.

The Kitchen is HERE!!!
I finally got my custom kitchen cabinets. Man they are great. Especially the little slide out thing for the trash can. I can't believe how big they are. I have enough room to store all of my crap and then some. It was a tough design. We decided to make some that matched some of the ikea furniture that we had. Its all birch veneer, the base cabinet is elevated and all of the hardware is the same.

Cut out jewelry

I started using some chip board in my vinyl cutter. Might have to invest in some new blades. I have to do a lot of the cutting by hand. Might be nice as a punch out jewelry piece. Maybe with a poly coating? hmmmm. Flocking? dunno. Maybe I will try some plastic sheeting soon.

sienna gallery
Got picked up by the sienna gallery a while back and they have been posting a lot of my work on their website. Thought this was a great shot with the moss brooch.
They have a lot of GREAT artists that have a lot of GREAT work on the website. I also really like the design of the site. It made me think how my site is way too busy.... Go check it out. -Arthur

Guns and Wolves!! (Cai Guo-Qiang, Head On, 2006)

Just thought this was cool. I have been playing with my patterns to create custom brushes in illustrator and its a lot of fun. For some reason these wolves reminded me of this process. Don't worry they are fake. I thought the same thing. But oddly enough there was a comment on wolves in sheep's clothing being that they are made of sheep skins
The wolves were produced in Quanzhou, China, from January to June of 2006. The commissioned local workshop in Cai’s hometown specializes in manufacturing remarkable, life-sized replicas of animals. First, small clay models were created as movement studies, out of which Cai subsequently developed Head On’s artist editions of cast resin wolves. However, the realistic and lifelike 99 wolves that grew out of these models and drawings possess no literal remnants of wolves: they are fabricated from painted sheepskins and stuffed with hay and metal wires, with plastic lending contour to their faces and marbles for eyes.
